Moulsecoomb Forest Garden & The Bevy

Homity finally made a trip out East to see the fabulous MFGP and then onto the linked and nearby Bevy. Inspirational Warren was a great guide and with his large team of willing helpers has transformed a once derelict sloping allotment site behind Moulsecoomb station into a vibrant and productive wonderland. From team lunches around the fire to a magical self built wooden cabin, poly houses and neat veg patches, this place has a great vibe which shows in all the young and older kids happily doing manual work (and not an iPhone in site!). We are all looking forward to their summer Open Day on 20th July, please come along.

Moulsecoomb Forest Garden

A quick skip across Lewes Road takes us to The Bevy, one of the very few Community owned public houses in the country. This place buzzes with all that is right about community energy. It has beer (the magnificent Bevendean beast was tested and is gorgeous..) home cooked food, a Friday friends lunch club, dementia friendly events, local kids learning kitchen skills and endless friendliness. Ian and his staff have transformed the building with much support from locals and various funders, so why not find a reason to visit soon?

Homity looks forward to being involved with both these community ventures, BIG thanks to everyone involved. Keep it up!
