Our Trustees have managed to meet remotely to assess our COVID-19 crisis response and the best community focused grants applications that are currently viable. Under these continuing, challenging circumstances, they granted £19k of funds across various sectors operating in Sussex. It was noted that food and hygiene supply accounted for a third of these. They also took the decision to award a further significant sum to the Sussex Crisis fund 2 allowing urgent help to those causes operating ‘on the front line’ of the pandemic response. A decisive and positive reaction which we hope puts our funds to where they are most needed right now. Another really tough round of decisions skilfully handled.
A selection of the new groups we are now pleased to be supporting:
- UK Harvest
- Hastings Furniture service
- Chichester Hygiene Bank
We were also able to offer new funding to a few previous groups allowing them to continue and expand their amazing work. Take a bow Yada in Worthing, the Tarner Community project and the Whitehawk foodbank. An immediate donation was also made to CHOMP in Brighton to help provide school half term meals.
Our next physical grants meeting is scheduled to take place in March 2021. (application deadline is 1st March 2021).
